An intercontinental health alliance improving blood transfusion safety.

The Challenge

Blood transfusions save lives. However, regions in Africa face challenges with safe access to blood due to a lack of trained quality management professionals.

Our Aim

TransMedAfrica addresses this gap. We aim to develop sustainable educational programmes on quality management in transfusion medicine. This initiative provides a transcontinental framework to enhance the accessibility and safety of blood components.

Our Approach

To achieve this, the project focuses on three main areas:

Global collaboration: Combining expertise from Africa, Asia, and Europe to build hybrid educational models.

Training professionals: Improving quality standards across the blood donation process.

Developing accredited courses: Partnering with higher education institutions to create replicable training programmes.
